Rev. Danny's Sermon 11-06-11  -  “The First Oil Shortage”
Jesus tells the disciples that the humble will be exalted, and the exalted will be humbled. Who do we exalt today? The humble—or the already exalted? Do we perhaps need to rethink our tendency to hero worship?
Rev. Danny's Sermon 10-30-11  -  “Humble Pie”
For years this passage has been used as a warning to be prepared for the second coming of Christ by making sure our “lamps” were filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit. But how much is enough? And what happens when our fellow travelers won’t share their “oil?”
Rev. Danny's Sermon 11-13-11  -  “Snake Eyes”
Our ancestors developed an exceptional ability to see and identify objects that were close by and in front of them, helping them to avoid snakebites—a very real threat to human life. Looking down was critical to the survival of human beings. Today, not only looking down, but also looking around and within are crucial to the well-being of creation.
Rev. Danny's Sermon 11-20-11  -  “Attack of the Mutant Sheep”
This passage clearly separates the sheep from the goats. The challenge is, as humans, we tend to be a “mixed breed;” that is, we have characteristics of both sheep and goats. So what happens then?
Ray Barkey's Sermon 11-27-11  -  “Hope, Dreams, and Reality”
Rev. Danny's Sermon 12-04-11  -  “Waiting in Line--Again”
Waiting in line is never fun. During the Christmas shopping season, however, waiting in line can cause us to reach new highs in the annoyance department. So what are some fun things we can do while waiting for Jesus to show up—or is it really the things we do that encourage Jesus to show up—or not--in the first place?
